Holistic counselling that supports people through life’s challenges
Meet Rachel Fletcher
M. Counselling, Dip Holistic Counselling, Dip Body Psychotherapy, M. Ed. (TESOL), Grad Dip Further Education and Training, B. Arts Leisure Studies, Certified Practising Counsellor in Australia.
I am a qualified holistic counsellor helping people create inner awareness and spaciousness in their life by developing insights, understandings and skills to meet life’s challenges – with personal strength, integrity and calmness – through aspects of mind, body and spirit.
I have over twenty years experience in personal development, adult education and counselling. My insights and intuitive approach to therapy are underpinned by academic study and research.
My broad skill set allows me to educate and empower my clients to live a more fulfilling life. My therapeutic knowledge draws from the fields of counselling, psychotherapy, philosophy, mindfulness practice and Eckhart Tolle’s teachings and life experience.
My joy is to work with and support people who want to live more consciously: to be more present and connected to their authentic selves and others, to be guided by their innate wisdom, to genuinely desire a more satisfying and rewarding way of being.

“I know for sure what we dwell on is who we become.”

How I started counselling
Originally from the UK, I started my working life as a Computer Analyst in Manchester.
At 22 years old, I moved from England to Australia, immediately found work, great friends and a partner. I had a lot of adventures travelling the world. Yet I felt flat, didn’t feel much joy and was so busy I was essentially living in survival mode. Briefly seeing a psychiatrist, I looked for help elsewhere, starting with psychotherapy sessions, together with mindfulness meditation and practice.
In my thirties I completed a Master of Education (TESOL), working internationally. At forty, needing to find a more meaningful purpose to life, I completed a Diploma of Body Psychotherapy. I began to recognise the interplay between my feelings, perceptions and physical body – and how I created my unhelpful responses to myself and others.
This inner journey was so fascinating and empowering that I studied a Diploma in Holistic Counselling and taught and counselled adults internationally and locally for six years. I also found guidance from Eckhart Tolle’s “The Power of Now”.
To deepen my understanding of counselling theories and practises, I completed a Master of Counselling in 2021. As part of my degree, I counselled clients with a range of issues at Red Cross to broaden my experience and co-facilitated a mindfulness program at Bloomhill Cancer Care.
I continued to learn from Eckhart Tolle’s teachings and realised how the practise of self-awareness can be profoundly life-changing. Through his encouragement I began to consider the possibility of sharing my broad knowledge and experience to assist others to find more personal satisfaction, meaning or purpose; develop more honest relationships with self and others; or explore what is meant by a deeper sense of wellbeing despite life’s obstacles – or perhaps sometimes because of them.
Interested in working independently and providing a range of creative, researched therapeutic services, I then set out to open my own practice and created Aware Living. By providing services that feel true to myself, I see better long-term outcomes for clients.
“Realise deeply that the present moment is all you have. Make the NOW the primary focus of your life. Aware living gives you more choice.”
Eckhart Tolle
